Lathyrus aphaca L.

This species is native to Macaronesia, Mediterranean to Central Asia and Indian Subcontinent. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There is only one known species of Lathyrus occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual   herb ; up to 1 m long , glabrous . Stems trailing or scrambling , angled , unwinged , pale green to glaucous , glabrous . Leaves simple tendrils ; stipules broadly ovate , leaflet-like , arrow-shaped , up to 50 mm long . Inflorescences borne in a 1-2-flowered raceme in leaf axils . Flowers bisexual , yellow (often streaked with violet) , 10–13 mm in length ; calyx 3-9 mm long , teeth equal to 3 times as long as the tube ; stamens 10 ; style 1 .
