Woody based perennial herb ; up to 80 cm tall , grey-green . Stems ± prostrate , branched , hairy . Leaves alternate , grey/green , small , sessile , 5-foliolate , widely spaced on the stems ; leaflets sessile , (3-)5-9 x (1-)4-5 mm , obovate , obtuse to retuse , cuneate at base , grey pilose on both surfaces or glabrous above . Inflorescences solitary , or 1-2 in axillary , sessile . Flowers pink flowers have darker veins , inconspicuous , being almost hidden in the hairy calyx ; calyx 5-8 mm , 5-lobed , lobed unequal , about twice as long as the tube ; corolla red , slightly exserted ; upper filament free , the other 9 united ; ovules c . 6 ; style c . 2 . 8 mm long .
