Pleurolobus gangeticus (L.) J.St.-Hil. ex H.Ohashi & K.Ohashi

This species is native to Tropical & Subtropical Africa and South Asia to Australia. (Ref. http://www.flowersofindia.net). There is only one known species of Pleurolobus occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Subshrub or woody perennial herb ; up to 2 m tall , mostly erect , rarely prostrate or straggling . Stems prostrate to erect or arching , angular , pubescent with longer hairs on the angles . Leaves 1-foliolate ; petiole 0 . 5-2 . 3 cm long ; stipules lanceolate , 7-13 mm long ; leaflet 0 . 4–17 . 5 × 0 . 4–6 cm , round , elliptic , oblong to ovate-lanceolate , rounded to acuminate at the apex , rounded , truncate , or even slightly cordate at the base , puberulous with very short hairs above , almost glabrous , pilose with much longer hairs beneath . Inflorescences borne in racemes at the end of branches , or in leaf axils . Flowers c . 5 mm long , variable in colour , pink , blue , white , mauve or greenish and dark blue ; calyx pale green tinged reddish , finely uncinulate-puberulous and with long hairs on the lobes ; corolla obovate , emarginate .
