Tree or large shrub ; up to 3 m tall , with rounded crown and dark reddish-brown bark . Stems many ; prickles (just below the nodes) 2 or 3 , up to 7 mm , dark brown and glossy , all curving downwards or straight . Leaves with 5-7 pairs of pinnae ; leaflets 7-9 pairs on each pinna , 2-4 x 2 mm , oblong . Inflorescences spicate , up to 6 cm , pedunculate , in clusters . Flowers white , faintly fragrant ; calyx ± 1 mm , 5-lobed ; corolla 5-lobed ; stamens many , exserted . Fruit pod , 7-9 x 13-11 cm , flattened , 5-6-seeded , brown-green , dehiscent . (Ref .
