Senegalia laeta (R.Br. Ex Benth.) Seigler & Ebinger

This species is native to N & Tropical Africa, northwards to Palestine, Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 4 species of Senegalia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

An evergreen small tree or large shrub ; up to 2 m tall , with rounded crown and grey , fissured bark . Stems many ; young branchlets brownish , glabrous ; prickles paired , up to 5 mm , curved downwards , dark reddish-brown . Leaves in fascicles of 1-2 , each with 3 pairs of pinnae ; leaflets 2-3 pairs , 4-5 mm , oblong to obovate . Inflorescences in up to 4 cm long racemose spike . Flowers pale yellow , fragrant ; calyx ± 1 . 5 mm , 5-lobed ; corolla 1 . 5-2 mm , reddish ; stamens many , exserted . Fruit pod , 2 . 5-5 x 0 . 9-1 . 4 cm , flattened , straw-coloured to pale-brown , dehiscent , 2-seeded . Seeds ± 5 mm , ovoid , brown . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
