Sesbania sericea (Willd.) Link

This species is native to Tropical Africa, Arabian Peninsula; (Ref. POWO; 2022). probably introduced to West Indies and South America. (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.2). There are 4 species of Sesbania found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual or short-lived perennial herb ; up to 2 m high , pubescent silky when young . Stems erect , pubescent throughout , often with minute prickles . Leaves paripinnate with 20–25 pairs of leaflets ; stipules ± 5 mm , erect , lanceolate , falling soon ; rachis up to 15 cm , pubescent ; leaflets 15-30 x 5-6 mm , oblong , obtuse , glabrous above pubescent beneath . Inflorescences in 2–6-flowered axillary racemes ; pedicels sparsely pilose , to 5 mm long . Flowers yellow ; calyx 3-4 mm , lobes ± 1 mm , triangular , acute , ± pubescent on the margins ; corolla with standard petal yellow with dark purple flecks , ± 10 mm , appendages narrow , adnate to the claw ; wings yellow ; keel pale green to white ; ovary glabrous ; style glabrous , 2 mm long . Fruit pod , ± 12 cm , with beak ± 5 mm , curved , pendulous , slightly torulose , 15–30-seeded . Seeds brown . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
