Tephrosia nubica subsp. arabica (Boiss.) J.B.Gillett

This subspecies is native to Middle East, Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 6 species of Tephrosia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Dense woody perennial ; up to 1 . 25 m tall , all parts covered in fine white hair . Stems erect , branching , densely appressed white-pubescent . Leaves alternate , greyish , imparipinnate with 4-8 pairs of leaflets ; petiole up to 10 mm ; stipules linear , pubescent ; leaflets 12-35(-45) x 4-10(-13) mm , oblanceolate to oblong-lanceolate , margins entire , apex acute , apiculate , base obtuse to cuneate , appressed pubescent above , silky sericeous on the lower surface . Inflorescences borne on stems arising from the leaf axils or terminally . Flowers pink with a hairy upper petal ; calyx 9-10 mm , lobes ± 8 mm , linear-lanceolate , densely sericeous ; corolla with standard petal ± 11 mm , pubescent on the dorsal surface ; wings ± 8 mm . Fruit pod , 11-13 mm , oval , beaked , covered in long yellowish hair , 1-seeded . Seeds kidney-shaped . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .

In Northern Oman, the plant was commonly used as a poison to catch freshwater fish live in wadi ponds or falaj channels. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
