Trigonella foenum-graecum L.

This species is native to Iraq to N Pakistan; cultivated throughout Arabia. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 4 species of Trigonella found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Erect aromatic annual herb ; up to 30 cm high . Stems erect , sparsely pubescent . Leaves green ; leaflets aromatic , 10-30 x 5-15 mm , obovate to oblong , dentate at the apex . Inflorescences 1–2 in leaf-axils . Flowers white or cream , 5-15 mm ; corolla pale yellow or white , 12–18 mm long . Fruit pods , 6-10 cm long , erect , straight or curved , somewhat flattened , tapering to a beak , (7–)10–15(–18)-seeded . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .

Ghazanfar (2007) wrote that: "The entire plant is regarded highly for its medicinal properties; it used for the treatment of abdominal colic, bronchitis and cough, sprains and treatment after childbirth when it is considered to give strength and ‘clean the stomach’". (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.2).
