Trigonella stellata Forssk.

This species is native to Canary Islands to Iran and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 4 species of Trigonella found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Small annual herb ; up to 8 cm high . Stems prostrate to procumbent , glabrous to glabrescent . Leaves 3-foliolate , green ; petiole up to 4 mm , slender ; stipules ± 2 mm , somewhat sagitate ; leaflets 3-5 x 3-5 mm , obovate , dentate , apex rounded , dentate , base acute , ± glabrous . Inflorescences in axillary sessile clusters . Flowers yellow , ± 4 mm ; calyx ± 2 mm , lobes shorter than the tube ; corolla with standard petal 3-4 mm . Fruit pod , 2-3 mm , slightly compressed , curved upwards , beaked , ± glabrous , with prominent transverse ridges , arising stellately from the leaf axils . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
