An erect annual herb ; up to 20 cm high , branching from the base . Stems erect to ascending , simple or branched , winged , glabrous . Leaves opposite , sessile , elliptic to oblong-elliptic , acute tip , entire margin , 3-nerved , glabrous . Inflorescences in terminal or axillary cymes , many flowered . Flowers few , bright-pink , star-like , close in the afternoon ; calyx 6-9 mm , tubular ; corolla bright-pink , tubular ; stamens 5 , filaments inserted in about the middle of the corrola tube ; anthers yellow , basifixed ; ovary oblong-lanceolate ; stigma 2-lobed . Fruit capsule , oblong . Seeds numerous , minute , globose . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
