Exacum aff. affine Balf. f. ex Regel

This species is native to Socotra, SW Oman. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Exacum found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Short-lived biennial herb ; 15 cm high , semi-succulent . Stems erect , simple or sparsely branched , weak , somewhat quadrangular , glabrous . Leaves opposite , bright green , broadly ovate to ovate to elliptic , acute tip , entire margin , base tapering into a long petiole , glabrous . Inflorescences solitary or in terminal or axillary cymes . Flowers blue to purplish blue , fragrant ; calyx 5-lobed ; corolla blue to purplish blue , 8-11 mm , lobed above ; stamens 5 ; anthers yellow , curved ; style longer than the stamens . Fruit capsule , mucronate . Seeds muricate .
