Erodium cicutarium (L.) L'Her.

This species is native to Macaronesia, temperate Eurasia and north and northeast Africa; (Ref. https://en.wikipedia.org). a naturalized weed worldwide. (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.2). There are 5 species of Erodium found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Usually prostrate herbaceous annual ; up to 50 cm high . Stems procumbent , reddish , hirsute to hispid with glandular hairs . Leaves opposite , mostly basal , oblong in outline , pinnate with deeply pinnatifid leaflets , always divided for more than half-way to midrib , sparsely appressed glandular hairy ; petiole 2-3 cm long ; stipules ovate , hyaline , 3 . 5-4 . 5 cm long . Inflorescences in umbels with 4-6(-10) flowers ; pedicel 6-8 mm long , hairy , deflexed in fruit . Flowers bright pink ; sepals 5 , distinct , 3-veined , reticulate , 4-5 mm , pubescent at back and especially at base , terminated by 0 . 5 mm purple mucro ; petals 5 , distinct , obovate , clawed , pink-purple to purple-violet , 3-veined , 4-5 mm ; filaments 10 . Fruit mericarps , 3 . 5-4 . 5 cm , hairy , apical pit eglandular , furrow below apical pit absent or present ; beak 3-4(-7) cm , with bristles along the inner side . Seeds ± 2 . 5 cm , brown , smooth . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
