Procumbent to ascending annual or biennial herb ; up to 45 cm tall . Stems greyish-green , shortly pubescent to canescent . Leaves opposite , cordate to ovate , varying greatly in lobation from lower leaves mostly suentire-dentate to blades of the others pinnately divided nearly to base , often with 3-5(-7) main lobes ; petioles on lower leaves exceeding the blades , those above shorter ; stipules membranous , broadly ovate . Inflorescences in (2-)5-8-flowered umbels , peduncles exceeding the subtending leaf to 6(-10) cm ; pedicels 1-3 times the length of the sepals . Flowers pink-purple ; sepals 4-5 mm long , mucronate , pubescent , 5-nerved ; petals 4-5(-6) mm , distinct , pink-purple ; filaments with neither cilia nor teeth on the margin . Fruit mericarps , 4-5 mmlong , short-pubescent , with 1 or 2 papillose pits at apex at insertion of the beak , furrows absent ; beak 4-5(-7) cm long , beak sparsely appressed-pubescent along the inner side . Seeds 2 . 5-3 mm long , brown , smooth .
