Geranium biuncinatum Kokwaro

This species is native to NE Tropical Africa to S Arabia. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Geranium found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb . Stems erect or ascending , pubescent with short hairs and longer often glandular hairs . Leaves orbicular in outline , ± 5 cm in diameter ; blade usually 5-lobed , divided to about two-thirds of the radius ; lobes 5–12 mm wide at the base , obovate , pinnatifid in upper part , pubescent ; petioles long . Inflorescences 1-3-flowered ; peduncle 0-4 cm long , glandular hairy . Flowers mauve or pink with a dark purple centre ; sepals narrowly ovate , to 10 mm long in fruit , 2-fid , mucronate ; petals 6-9(-10) mm , mauve or pink with a dark purple centre . Fruit mericarps , 5-7 mm , orange , glabrous , with strongly dentate wings along the edges , and with 2 curved horn-like appendages at the apex , becoming detached from the beak-like style at maturity . Seeds 2-3 mm long , minutely reticulate , brownish . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
