Annual herb ; up to 40 cm high , with spreading hairs and glands . Stems erect or spreading . Leaves opposite , long-petiolate ; blade deeply segmented into three or five lobes , the lobes divided to about two-thirds of the radius ; lobes 3-10 mm wide at the base , obovate , margins serrated , covered in soft hair . Inflorescences (1-)2-flowered ; peduncle 0-5 cm long . Flowers pink with a dark purple centre ; sepals narrowly ovate , 4-6 x 1-3 mm , mucronate ; petals 6 . 5-8 mm , mauve or pink with a dark purple centre . Fruit mericarps , 3-3 . 5 mm long , brown to black , strongly reticulate , the ridges minutely pubescent and with short longitudinal crests . Seeds ± 2 . 5 mm long , minutely reticulate , brown .
