Geranium rotundifolium L.

This species is native Macaronesia, Europe to Himalaya, N Africa. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Geranium found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Herbaceous annual ; up to 40 cm high . Stems erect or spreading , glandular hairy , slender , often reddish , not rooting at nodes . Leaves opposite , round or kidney- shaped , 1-4 cm broad , with 5-7 segments , shallowly lobed ; lobes toothed ; stipules 1 . 5-3 . 5 mm long , wedge shaped , long-pointed , often reddish brown . Inflorescences cymules solitary , 2-flowered ; peduncle 1 . 8-3 cm , glandular , deflexed in fruit ; pedicel 0 . 7-2 cm . Flowers 6-7 mm broad , pink fading to white in the centres with greenish pink veining ; sepals 3 . 5-4 . 5 mm long , ovate-oblong-lanceshaped , hairy ; petals 2 . 5-7 mm long , obovate , lilac ; filaments 2 . 5 mm long , gradually dilated towards the base .
