Gisekia pharnaceoides L.

This species is native to Africa to Indo-China. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Gisekia occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

A semi-succulent glabrous annual herb ; up to 10 cm high , often with a pink ting in the stems and leaves . Stems trailing , decumbent or prostrate , branching from the base . Leaves mostly opposite , 10-20 x 4-6 mm , sessile or obscurely petiolate , the apex rounded , obtuse or subacute . Inflorescences sessile or pedunculate , umbelliform , congested to very lax , 3-40-flowered . Flowers hermaphrodite , greenish or greenish-white , often with a pink , mauve or yellowish tinge ; sepals c . 2 mm , ovate ; petals absent ; stamens 5 . Fruit achene , ± 1 mm , papillose . Seeds reniform , minutely pitted , compressed , dark red or black . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
