Juglans regia L.

This species is native to NE & E Türkiye to Lebanon and W Himalaya; introduced and cultivated elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There is only one species of Juglans occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Monoecious . Large deciduous tree ; up to 35 m tall , and a trunk up to 2 m in diameter , with smooth , olive-brown bark . Stems and branches silvery-grey . Leaves alternate , 25–40 cm long , odd-pinnate ; leaflets in 2-5 pairs , oblong-ovate to oblong-elliptic , acute or acuminate at the apex , rounded base , entire margins , glabrous . Inflorescences monoecious . Flowers male flowers in drooping catkins 5–10 cm long , female flowers terminal , in clusters of two to five . Fruit drupe , ovoid , with a green , semifleshy husk and a brown , corrugated nut . Seeds solitary , large , 2-4-lobed , with a relatively thin shell . (Ref . https://en . wikipedia . org) .
