Lavandula samhanensis Upson & S.Andrews

This species is native to S Arabian Peninsula (Oman). (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 7 species of Lavandula found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Aromatic perennial herb ; up to 20 cm high , with a woody base . Stems erect to ascending , branched , densely white-tomentose with short branched hairs , glabrous below and becoming glabrous with age . Leaves ovate , pinnatifid with 3 pairs or rounded lobes , lobed to half the lamina , 1-15 x 1-15 mm , densely tomentose , with short to highly branched hairs , grey-green ; petiole densely woolly . Inflorescences of spikes 1-2 cm ; bracts ± 5 mm , ovate with long acuminate apex , hairs simple and branched . Flowers violet-pink ; calyx violet-pink , 5-6 mm , lobes unequal , triangular ; lobes 1-1 . 5 mm , indumentum of simple and branched , with distinctive long stalked multicellular glandular hairs and sessile glands .
