Stems erect , simple or branched , with a tomentose indumentum of very short usually retrorse eglandular hairs . Leaves opposite , bright green , petiolate , up to 2-4 x 0 . 6-2 . 5 cm , ovate to ovate-lanceolate , base ± cuneate , apex acute to obtuse , margins crenate-serrate , pubescent , adpressed pubescent , eglandular above , scattered sessile glands on the undersurface ; petiole 6-20 mm . Inflorescences in dense whorls in the leaf nodes ; bracteoles 5-8 mm , linear to narrowly oblanceolate , pubescent with sometimes bristly hairs ; pedicels ± 1 mm long . Flowers white , many in each cyme ; calyx 7-8 mm , tubular , 10-nerved , pubescent , hairs longer and dense along the vein ridges ; throat asymmetric ; lobes 10 , subequal ; teeth narrow triangular with short spinescent tips ; corolla white , 6-10 mm ; tube 4-6 mm ; upper lip entire forming a hood over style and stamens , densely pubescent , white-ciliate along the margin ;
