Micromeria imbricata (Forssk.) C.Chr.

This species is native to Africa, and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Micromeria found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Aromatic annual or perennial herb ; up to 15 cm high , with a short woody base . Stems erect to ascending , slender , branching from the base , pubescent with short and long , retrorse or spreading eglandular hairs . Leaves opposite , sessile , ovate-lanceolate to elliptic , base cuneate , apex acute to obtuse , margins entire with thickened edges , upper surface mostly papillose to hairy , lower surface hairy at least on the veins , glands sessile . Inflorescences in 1–few-flowered verticils ; bracts as leaves but smaller ; bracteoles linear ; pedicels ± 3 mm . Flowers calyx 5-lobed , slightly 2-lipped , 3-3 . 5 mm , tubular ; tube (11-)13(-15)-veined , ± hairy on veins and inside near the mouth , teeth acuminate , spreading ; corolla violet , purple or sometimes white , 3-11 mm ; tube 2-5 mm , dilating above , uper lip emarginate ; lower lip 3-lobed with central lobe ± emarginate , hairy on the outside ; stamens 4 .
