Spiny shrub ; up to 1 . 5 m tall . Stems branched , densely eglandular-pubescent . Leaves 10-12 x 10 mm , suborbicular to broadly obovate , base cuneate , apex obtuse , margins crenate to dentate with small spinules , densely pubescent with eglandular hairs and sessile glands ; petiole ± 10 mm ; spines up to 20 mm present in the axils of leaves . Inflorescences (Verticillasters) few-flowered , distantly placed ; bracts spiny , spreading . Flowers white ; calyx 10-ribbed , densely pilose , tube ± 8 mm , lower lip broadly ovate , spreading , irregularly lobed and toothed , scarious , straw-coloured ; upper lip small ; corolla white , ± 20 mm , 2-lipped ; tube about the same lenth as the calyx tube ; upper lip 10-11 mm , densely villous .
