Subshrub ; up to 35 cm high , with woody basal stems , aromatic . Stems erect , quadrangular , ± branched from the base , white eglandular pilose below , densely glandular above with capitate glandular hairs and oil globules . Leaves opposite along the stem , 1 . 8-4 . 5 x 0 . 3-1 cm , grey-green , linear to linear-lanceolate , base cuneate , apex acute , margins entire , eglandular white-lanate , rugose on the upper surface ; petioles up to 4 mm . Inflorescences simple panicle , verticils 4–6-flowered ; bracts 10-12 mm , broadly ovate to suborbicular ; pedicels 1-2 mm , erect to spreading in fruit . Flowers white to violet ; calyx grey-green , tubular , 12-14 mm , elongating to ± 15 mm in fruit , 2-lipped , distinctly ribbed , glandular pilose ; upper lip with 3 acuminate teeth ; corolla white to violet , 2-lipped , 20-25 mm ; tube ± erect ; upper lip ± falcate , lower lip 3-lobed .
