Salvia santolinifolia Boiss.

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula, Iran, and NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 9 species of Salvia known found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Aromatic , low shrub , with twisted woody basal stems ; up to 30 cm tall . Stems erect to ascending , quadrangular , much branched from the base , leafy , with retrorse short eglandular interspersed with long eglandular hairs , glandular above and with ± oil globules . Leaves opposite , 5-10 x 2-3 mm , grey-green , ± sessile , oblong in outline with a sinuate-convolute margins , pinnatifid , base cuneate , apex obtuse , white-pubescent with eglandular and glandular hairs and yellow or orange oil globules on the undersurface . Inflorescences (verticils) 1–2- flowered , distantly placed along the stems but usually in the upper part ; bracts elliptic , acute ; pedicels 1 . 5 mm , elongating and recurved in fruit . Flowers mauve , pink to lilac often with darker markings , 5-6 mm ; calyx grey-green , 5-6 mm , campanulate , 2-lipped , densely pubescent with long eglandular spreading hairs and shorter capitate glanular hairs and sessile glands ; upper lip of acuminate spinulose teeth ; corolla pink to lilac to pale violet with darker mottling ...
