Stems erect , corymbose to ascending , simple or branched , becoming greenish or purplish at maturity , covered with a dense indumentum of short eglandular retrorse hairs . Leaves 7-25 x 2-6 mm , lanceolate to linear-lanceolate , elliptic , short petiolate , base cuneate , apex acute , margins entire , ciliate , scabrid on both surfaces , prominently veined below , sparsely gland dotted ; petiole absent to 23 mm . Inflorescences on 6–8 axillary in false whorl in terminal spike , 2 . 0–2 . 2 cm long , forming a dense oblong spike from near the base of stem .
