Prostrate annual or short-lived perennial , glandular-pubescent herb ; up to 40 cm high , sometimes with woody base . Stems prostrate , somewhat zig-zag , pale brown . Leaves opposite to sub-opposite , simple , ovate to elliptic to broadly ovate , obtuse or apiculate at apex , cuneate at base , petiolate . Inflorescences solitary or paired , axillary cyme up to 5 mm across . Flowers bisexual , regular , small , white/green ; sepals 5 , ovate 3-4 mm long ; petals absent ; stamens 7 , inserted on a disk ; staminodes petaloid ; ovary superior , 2-celled .
