Erect annual herb ; 10-40 cm high , with ascending branches , and pale slender taproot . Stems erect , simple or corymbosely branched , usually simple at the base , glabrous or sparsely pubescent . Leaves alternate , 7-24 x 1 mm , ascending , sessile , linear-lanceolate , apex acute , margin entire to minutely denticulate , 1-nerved , scabrid , grey-green . Inflorescences in pedunculate dichasial cymes ; pedicel 2-5 mm , filiform . Flowers yellow , small ; calyx 4-5 mm , lanceolate , hyaline at the base , glandular-ciliate , persistent ; sepals with an elongate green acumen from an ovate base , considerably exceeding the capsule ; petals yellow , 3 . 5-4 mm ; stamens 5 ; staminodes 5 , placed in between the stamens . Fruit capsule , ± 2 mm , globose , yellow-brown , splitting into 10 , 1-seeded portions . Seeds ca . 1 mm , pale yellowish brown , elliptic . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
