Craterostigma pumilum Hochst.

This species is native to Eritrea, Botswana, and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.2). There is only one species of Craterostigma occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Small perennial rosette herb ; up to 7 cm high , with short rhizome with many reddish roots . Stems very reduced and covered in old leaf-bases , hirsute to ± glabrous . Leaves in a basal rosette , opposite , sessile , lying flat on the ground , 2–4 , linear-lanceolate to broadly ovate to ovate-elliptic , margins entire , apex obtuse to acute or shortly acuminate , base narrowing into a short , broad petiole , densely pubescent beneath , glabrous and smooth above , margins ciliate , 5-veined . Inflorescences arising from the centre of the rosette on a ± sessile peduncle with relatively long (2-3 cm) pedicels bearing individual flowers ; bracts lanceolate , up to 1 cm long , ciliate . Flowers purple or blue to pink with white and yellowish throat ; calyx lenrthening in fruit , tubular , 5-ribbed ; corolla variable from purple or blue to pink with white and yellowish throat , upper lip entire ; lower lip 3-lobed ; stamens 4 .
