Perennial shrub or subshrub ; up to 1 m tall , usually very sticky slightly aromatic . Stems erect with glandular and eglandular hairs ; hairs dense and patent . Leaves alternate , simple , 2 . 5-3 x 2 . 0-3 cm , densely glandular and stellate-hairy , apex acute , base cordate , margin deeply serrate to crenulate ; petiole as long as the blade ; stipules linear-lanceolate . Inflorescences solitary , in leaf axils , ± 2 . 5 cm across ; pedicel 1-3 cm , elongating in fruit . Flowers orange-yellow with a purple center , bisexual , 3-3 . 5 cm across ; calyx 6-9 mm , 5-lobed , lobes acute ; corolla 11-13 mm , obovate ; staminal column 5–7 mm long with transparent stellate hairs , the arms swollen at base ; styles deep crimson . Fruit mericarps , 20-27 , stellate-hairy , 2-3-seeded . Seeds 2 . 5 mm long and wide , many , irregularly rounded cordate , finely papillate and sometimes with simple or stellate hairs . (Ref .
