Abutilon theophrasti Medik.

This species is native to Central Asia, China; introduced and naturlised elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 7 known species of Abutilon found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 2 m tall . Stems erect , stout , few-branched , covered in downy hairs . Leaves alternate , simple , leaf blade orbicular-cordate , both surfaces densely stellate pubescent , base cordate , margin minutely crenate , apex long acuminate . Inflorescences solitary , axillary . Flowers yellow , 4 cm across , with a fruity scent ; calyx 6 . 5-10 mm ; petals 6-8(14) mm , yellow to orange . Fruit capsule , semiglobose ; mericarps , 15-20 , stellate pilose , apex 2-awned . Seeds reniform , brown , stellate puberulent . (Ref . http://www . efloras . org) .
