Stems glabrous or pubescent ; older often spiny ; bark pale grey , smooth , usually with scattered conical spines . Leaves 5–9-foliolate , glabrous ; leaflets narrowly elliptic-obovate , entire , acuminate , glabrous , petiolate . Inflorescences in 1–15-flowered axillary clusters . Flowers white , often on leafless branches ; petals pink or white , oblong ; ovary glabrous or nearly so . Fruit capsule , ± woody , loculicidal , smooth , brown , oblong-ellipsoid . Seeds c . 6 mm across , many , subglobose , dark brown , embedded in copious white or greyish silky wool . (Ref . POWO ; 2023) .
