Leaves alternate , simple , 2-7 x 1 . 5-4 cm , elliptic to ovate , serrate margin , acute to rounded apex , petiolate . Inflorescences solitary or in 1–2(–3)-flowered clusters , axillary . Flowers yellow , bisexual , regular , 5-merous ; sepals 5 , linear , glabrous , ciliate at basal margin , falling soon ; petals 5 , free , oblanceolate , ciliate at base ; stamens c . 10 ; ovary 3–5-angled , cylindric , puberulous . Fruit capsule , 2 . 5-3 cm , cylindrical , 3-locular , 3-winged , straight or slightly curved , glabrous , many-seeded . Seeds c . 0 . 5 mm long , numerous , pitted , brownish-black . (Ref .
