Hermannia testacea Vollesen

This species is native to Ethiopia, S Somalia, S Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Hermannia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Delicate annual herb ; up to 10 cm high . Stems and branches few , pubescent with simple and glandular hairs . Leaves 5-7 x 3 mm , ovate to narrow ovate , margins obscurely dentate , sparsely stellate-pubescent ; petiole 1–5 m ; stipules up to 3 mm long , linear-lanceolate . Inflorescences solitary in leaf-axils , with filiform pedicels , nodding ; a finge of hairs present at the articulation of pedicel and peduncle . Flowers red ; sepals 5 , united below to form a cup-like structure , lobes ± 1 mm , sparsely pubescent ; petals obovate , about as long as the sepals . Fruit capsule , 3-5 mm , subglobose , sparsely hairy with glandular and simple hairs . Seeds c . 1 . 5 mm long , transversely wrinkled and densely granular . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
