Pavonia schweinfurthii Ulbr.

This species is native to NE Africa, S Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 5 species of Pavonia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

An erect perennial ; up to 65 cm high . Stems erect , branched , stellate-pubescent . Leaves alternate , simple , 15-26 x 5-9 mm , narrowly ovate , apex obtuse to acute , base cordate , with very slightly serrated margins that curl inwards , stellate-hairy ; petiole up to 20-35 mm . Inflorescences solitary , in the leaf axils ; pedicel 25-50 mm , articulated to about 3/4 up from the base . Flowers creamy white , about 20 mm across ; epicalyx of 10-11 segments , 10-11 mm , linear ; calyx ± 4 mm , ovate-lanceolate ; petals pale yellow or white , 1–1 . 8 cm long ; staminal column 7–12 mm long . Fruit hairy , sections enclosed in an epicalyx ; mericarps 3-4 mm , densely pilose at the back . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
