Sida urens L.

This species is native to Tropical & Subtropical America, Cape Verde, Tropical Africa, Madagascar, and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Sida found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial herb ; up to 60 cm tall , branched from the base , with taproot system . Stems erect to spreading , branched , hispid to pilose . Leaves alternate , 6-7 x 4-5 cm , broadly ovate , apex acute , base cordate , margin serrate , pubescent to pilose ; petiole about as long as the leaf blade . Inflorescences usually in axillary clusters , rarely solitary ; pedicel ± 10 mm . Flowers white to pale yellow ; epicalyx absent ; calyx 5-7 mm , 5-lobed , lobes triangular ; corolla exceeding the calyx , obovate , notched or rounded at the apex ; staminal column ± 1 mm long , pubescent . Fruit mericarps 5 , smooth on the dorsal surface , obscurely beaked at the apex . Seeds 1 . 5 x 2 mm , dark brown . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
