Leaves simple , alternate , ovate , 6–15 × 5–12 cm , apex acuminate , base cordate , margine entire , ± covered on both sides with minute sessile peltate scales , otherwise smooth and glabrous ; petiolate . Inflorescences solitary or in cymes , axillary or terminal . Flowers bell shaped , yellow with dark pink eye at the centre , large , showy , bisexual , erect or pendent ; calyx densely lepidote , ± entire or with minute teeth about 1 mm long ; Petals yellow turning red with age , obovate , 4–10 . 5 × 3 . 5–7 cm , lepidote outside . Fruits berry , globose , indehiscent , depressed , scaly , ultimately glabrescent . Seeds 10–15 × 6–9 mm , many , ovoid , rusty brown pubescent or ± glabrous . (Ref . POWO ; 2022) .
