A decumbent to prostrate spreading herb ; up to 10 cm high , diffusely branched . Stems decumbent to prostrate , covered with soft whitish silky stellate hairs . Leaves opposite , alternate or appearing whorled , 8-40 x 5-20 mm , 3 or 4 at each node , elliptic to obovate , apex obtuse or rounded , base cuneate , margins sinuate , green when glabrous or glabrescent , whitish when densely covered with persistent stellate silky hairs . Inflorescences borne in stalkless clusters of 5-6 , in leaf axils ; pedicels 1-6 mm . Flowers greenish-white , sometimes with a pink tinge ; sepals 5 , accrescent , tinged pink , stellate-pubescent , 5-8 mm ; petals absent ; stamens many , staminodes linear , white , c . 15 in number , 2-fid at the apex ; ovary of (3)5 united carpels ; stigmas (3)5 .
