An evergreen tree , up to 26 m tall , with spreading crown . Stems and twigs contain a milky latex . Leaves alternate , ± 30–50 × 15–20 cm , thick , large , dark green , smooth , obovate to ovate . Inflorescences in the leaf-axils . Flowers monoecious ; male flowers borne on club-shaped spikes ; female flowers in oval-rounded heads . Fruit syncarp , ovoid , large , green to yellowish-green , with spiny surface . (Ref . POWO ; 2023) .
