Deciduous , large much branched shrub or small tree ; up to 8 m tall , with smooth , grey-white bark and white latex . Stems smooth , grey or brownish-grey ; young shoots reddish-brown , puberulous to glabrescent . Leaves variable in size and lobation , 5-8 x 4-7 cm , palmately 3-5 lobed , sometimes deeply palmately 3-5-lobed with each linear lobe further dissected irregularly , rarely lobation obscure , apex acute to rounded , base truncate or cordate , margin obscurely dentate to serrate , sinuate , 3-5 nerved at the base , scabrous to smooth , coriaceous , petiolate . Inflorescences (figs) 1-2 , in the leaf axils . Flowers minute , green , grow within the fruit , monoecious ; male ostiolar , pedicellate ; sepals whitish , 4 . 5 , thin , free , stamens 2 ; female numerous , subsessile ; sepals 5 , free ; ovary ± triangular , style long , stigma bifid . This tree is propagated by seeds. Steps to follow: • Sow collected seeds in seed tray filled with a ratio of 3 peat moss: 1 compost. • Irrigate the seed tray three times a week. • Germination commences from 22 days onward. Seed germination of this species is low and germination is around 45% (based on one trial).

Mountain Fig
In the Eastern Hajar Mountains, the fruit is edible. The green fruit is pounded with pepper and salt. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden). In Omani studies: Ghazanfar (2003) wrote that: "The shoots are heavily grazed by goats and camels". (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.1).
