Moringa oleifera Lam.

This species is native to NW India and NE Pakistan; introduced and widely cultivated elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 known species of Moringa found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Small tree or shrub ; up to 6 m tall , with whitish-gray bark . Stems with drooping , fragile branches . Leaves 2–3-pinnate , with 4–6 pairs of pinnae ; leaflets 6–9(–11) per pinna , elliptic or obovate , ± rounded to emarginate at the apex , rounded to cuneate at the base , glabrous or puberulous . Inflorescences in spreading or drooping flower clusters . Flowers white or cream , fragrant , hermaphroditic ; receptacle 3–4 mm long . Fruit capsule , 10–50 , glabrous , 9-ribbed . Seeds 0 . 5–2 . 5 cm long , dark brown , glabrous , with broad wings . (Ref . https://en . wikipedia . org) .

Not used traditionally. However, known used as ornamental plant. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden). In Omani studies: Miller & Cope (1996) wrote that: "Cultivated as an ornamental, and for the oil extracted from its seeds". (Ref. Miller & Cope; 1996). In addition, Ghazanfar (2003) mentioned that: "Cultivated for the edible capsules commonly cooked in curries". (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.1).
