Boerhavia repens L.

This species is native to Africa, Arabia, Pacific. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 3 species of Boerhavia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual to perennial herb ; up to 50-75 cm long . Stems prostrate or straggling , slender , glabrous or sparsely puberulous , radiating from taproot . Leaves opposite , 5-20 x 5-15 mm , ovate-triangular or oblong-ovate , rounded to cuneate at the base , rounded to subacute at the tip , entire or obscurely sinuate , pale beneath ; petiole up to 10 mm long . Inflorescences axillary , flowers in 2–5-flowered umbels , sometimes gathered into cymes ; peduncles 5-8 mm . Flowers perianth-limb white , pink or pale purple , c . 1 mm ; stamens 2–3 . Fruit anthocarp , 3 x 1 mm , clavate , 5-ribbed , sparsely puberulous , sometimes with ± sessile glands . Seeds 2 mm long and 1 mm wide , ellipsoidal . (Ref . Miller & Cope ; 1996) .
