Commicarpus helenae (Roem. & Schult.) Meikle

This species is native to Africa, W Asia, Arabian Peninsula, Pakistan, India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Commicarpus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial subshrub ; up to 1 m long . Stems straggling , slender , branching , whitish green , glabrous or sparsely scabridulous . Leaves opposite , 12-40 x 10-20 mm , grey-green , broadly ovate to suborbicular , margins sinuate ; petiole up to 5 cm long , sparsely pubescent . Inflorescences in lax , 3-5 per node , in superposed umbles ; sessile or shortly pedicellate , up to 4 mm . Flowers perianth , pale-pink or purple , small , 1 . 5-3 mm , widely funnel-shaped ; stamens 2 ; anthers 0 . 3–0 . 5 mm . long , transverse elliptic to rounded ; ovary 0 . 5–0 . 6 mm long , ellipsoid , shortly stipitate , glabrous ; style 3–3 . 5 (5 . 5) mm long . Fruit anthocarp , 5-7 mm , turbinate , with wart-like glands at the apex and below ; glands dark-purple . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
