Buchnera hispida Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don

This species is native to tropical and subtropical Africa, Arabian Peninsula, and Indian Subcontinent. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Buchnera occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Semi-parasitic , annual herb ; up to 10–20 cm high , drying black . Stems erect , slender , simple or branched , branches widely spreading , pilose to hispid or scabrid . Leaves alternate or opposite ; basal leaves forming a rosette ; cauline reducing in size upwards ; upper leaves 15–25(–50) × 1–2 . 5 mm , linear to linear-lanceolate , acute or obtuse , entire or obscurely dentate , 1-veined ; lower leaves 45–54(–75) × 9–12(–25) mm wide , lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate to broadly or narrowly oblong , acute or obtuse , cuneate , entire to coarsely irregularly dentate , 3-veined ; all leaves hispid-scabrid . Inflorescences in terminal slender spikes , sessile or with short pedicels ; bracts 4–5 × 0 . 8–1(–3) mm , ovate to lanceolate , acute or acuminate , pilose , hispid or glabrous with ciliate margins ; bracteoles 2 . 8–4 mm , linear-lanceolate to subulate .
