Lindenbergia indica (L. )Vatke

This species is native to Egypt, extending to N Kenya, Arabian Peninsula, eastwards to Indian Subcontinent. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 3 species of Lindenbergia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual or perennial herb or subshrub ; up to 50 cm high . Stems erect to ascending or prostrate to pendent , often profusely branched , densely or sparsely pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs . Leaves opposite , 1 . 5–35 × 1–25 mm , lanceolate to ovate to suborbicular , base shortly attenuate , apex acute to obtuse , margins serrate-dentate , pilose on both surfaces ; petiole 1–20 mm . Inflorescences axillary , solitary ; bracts as leaves but smaller ; pedicels 1–6 mm . Flowers yellow to orange-yellow ; calyx 5-lobed , 3–8 mm , lobed to half the length , lobes ovate , pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs ; corolla yellow to orange-yellow , 2-lipped , reddish on the upper lip , 8–18 mm , pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs on the outside ; tube 4–9 mm , pilose ; upper lip 2-lobed , lobes ovate , margins revolute ; lower lip 3-lobed , lobes obovate , medially pilose , ± spreading , the lobes with raised glands ; stamens 4 ; filaments pilose at base ; thecae stipitate .
