Leaves opposite , 4–60 × 2–45 mm , green to dark green often purplish beneath , lanceolate to ovate , base shortly attenuate , apex acute to obtuse , margins serrate-dentate , pilose ; petiole 1–20 mm . Inflorescences axillary , solitary ; bracts as leaves but smaller ; pedicels 1–4 mm . Flowers pale yellow to orange-yellow ; calyx 5-lobed , 2 . 5–5 mm , lobed to half the length , lobes ovate , pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs ; corolla pale yellow to orange-yellow , 2-lipped , tube 4–7 mm , pilose ; upper lip 2-lobed , lobes rounded ; lower lip 3-lobed , galeate , lobes obovate , spreading , with dumb-bell shaped hairs inside ; stamens 4 ; filaments pilose ; thecae stipitate .
