Orobanche cernua Loefl.

This species is native to Old World. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Orobanche found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual or perennial parasitic herb ; up to 15-30 cm tall . Stems erect , simple , short , rather slender varying to thick , rather fleshy , yellow to pale violet , ± glandular-pubescent . Leaves 5–10 × ± 5 mm , ovate-lanceolate , yellowish , sparsely glandular-pubescent . Inflorescences spicate , dense ; bracts 8–10 mm , ovate , yellow , glandular-pubescent . Flowers cream , tinged blue-mauve to purple , usually prominently curved ; calyx 7–12 mm , calyx divided into two bifid lateral segments , teeth acuminate , pale yellow-blue , glandular-pubescent ; corolla 12–15 mm , erect to patent , tubular , inflated proximally , curved , the tube cream , tinged blue-mauve to purple , sparsely glandular-pubescent ; upper lip slightly bilobed ; lower lip 3-lobed , lobes rounded , margins ± entire ; stamens 4 , glabrous above , ± hairy below ; anthers glabrous or hairy ; stigma lobes cream-white ; style glandular-pilose . Fruit capsules , 5-7 mm long , ovoid-ellipsoid , the valves remaining apically united when ripe . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
