Leaves alternate , 1-4(-6) cm long , petiolate , stipulate , yellow-green , compound with three heart-shaped leaflets ; leaflets sessile , 0 . 5-1 cm long , obcordate with entire margins , hairy below and along the margins ; stipules 1 . 5-2 mm long ; petioles exceeding the blade . Inflorescences solitary or in small umbels , arise in the leaf axils in sprays of 1-6 flowers ; peduncles equalling or exceeding the leaves ; bracts 2-many , 2-4 mm , linear-lanceolate . Flowers bright yellow ; sepals 2-5 mm , ovate-lanceolate , hairy ; petals 4-10 mm , yellow , shalowly emarginate , cuneate ; styles hairy , about as long as the long filaments . The sour leaves are edible, especially loved by children. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden). In Omani studies: Pickering & Patzelt (2008) wrote that: "Toxic to livestock". (Ref. Field Guide to the Wild Plants of Oman; 2008). In addition, Patzelt (2015) mentioned that: "The leaves of wood sorrel are edible, with a tangy taste of lemons. A drink can be made by infusing the leaves in hot water for about 10 minutes, sweetening and then chilling. The plant is rich in Vitamin C". (Ref.
