Fumaria abyssinica Hammar

This species is native to Eritrea, extending to Malawi and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2022). There are 2 species of Fumaria found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual erect herb ; up to 60 cm high , with slender root . Stems delicate , branched , smooth . Leaves alternate , divided into narrow leaf segments with linear light green lobes , oblong , acute tip , glabrous ; petiole usually long . Inflorescences densely many-flowered clusters ; peduncles usually more than 5 mm . Flowers 5–6 . 5 mm long , pink with a darker pink to purple tip ; sepals small , ± 2 mm , ovate , acute , margin obscurely toothed ; petals 4 , cohering , pinkish-white with dark-red or maroon tips , upper petal keeled at the apex and with a short basal spur ; stamens 6 . Fruit capsule , ± 2 mm , round to oblong , 2-valved with 2 shallow apical pits . Seeds tiny , numerous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .

In Omani studies: Ghazanfar (2003) wrote that: "The plant has been used in traditional medicine as an anthelmintic, laxative, for dyspepsia, and skin problems". (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.1). In addition, Patzelt (2015) mentioned that: "The plant is used to treat various digestive system and skin problems". (Ref. Photographic Field Guide to the Plants of the Western Hajar Mountains, Sultanate of Oman; 2015).
