Phyllanthus amarus Schumach. & Thonn.

This species is native to S Mexico, extending to Tropical America; naturalised elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Phyllanthus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

A glabrous erect or ascending annual herb ; up to 20 cm high . Stems erect to decumbent , mostly branching from the base , glabrous . Leaves alternate , 3-6 x 2-3 mm , oblong-ovate to obovate , apex acute to obtuse , base rounded , margin entire , glabrous ; stipules ± 0 . 5 mm , lanceolate with white margins ; petiole ± 0 . 5 mm , capillary . Inflorescences axillary , solitary , arranged on the lower part of the stem . Flowers monoecious . Male flowers: ± 1 mm across ; sepals ovate , ± 0 . 5 mm , green with white margins , entire ; disc glands rounded ; stamens 3 , filaments fused almost to the anthers . Female flowers: ± 1 mm , increasing to ± 2 mm in fruit ; sepals obovate , green with a white hyaline margin . Fruit capsule , ± 2 mm in diameter , depressed globose , yellow-green , glabrous . Seeds 0 . 8–1 × 0 . 6–0 . 8 × 0 . 5–0 . 7 mm , triquetrous , light brown , with 5–7 longitudinal ridges on the dorsal facet . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
