A small creeping perennial herb ; up to 40 cm high . Stems branched , ascending to prostrate and creeping , rooting at nodes , 4-angled , glabrous . Leaves opposite , sessile , 8–20 × 3–6 mm , oblong to spathulate , apex obtuse , margins entire , succulent . Inflorescences solitary in the axils of leaves ; pedicels 5–30 mm long ; bracteoles ± 5 mm , ovate , present below the calyx . Flowers small , actinomorphic , blue violet to white ; calyx 5-lobed to the base , ± 5 mm , glabrous , the outer 3 lobes broadly ovate , with the upper lobe largest ; 2 lateral lobes smallest , lanceolate ; corolla blue-violet to white , subrotate ; tube ± 5 mm , upper lip emarginate , 3–5 mm , lower lip equally 3-lobed ; stamens 4 , 2 long and 2 short .
